Your Coach: Terry Grisham
Terry began his 30+ year career in Strength & Conditioning at the University of Oklahoma in 1984. Since then, he has held positions with Louisiana State University, the Chicago White Sox, and the Baltimore Orioles. He also served as the Director of Rehabilitation and Wellness at AOSSMA orthopedic practice in Birmingham, AL. He was an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham teaching undergraduate and graduate level Advanced Conditioning Principles for the Athlete and Weight Training. He has lectured nationally for PASSOR on functional and strategic rehabilitation of the spine. He was a reviewer for the American College of Sports Medicine’s Foundations of Strength Training and Conditioning textbook, 1st edition. He has also been an instructor for the USAW Level 1 coaching courses. Terry has lectured to and trained the Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Night Stalkers) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. At present, Terry serves as a Strength and Conditioning Consultant for the Tampa Bay Rays Major league Strength and Conditioning Coordinator and is the coach and owner of CHALK!
Terry earned his B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Central Oklahoma, his M.A.Ed. in Exercise Physiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has 21 hours of graduate work in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University. He has held the C.S.C.S. certification from the National Strength and Conditioning Association for over 20 years. Terry is a competitive powerlifter. Terry held the USPA National American Masters record, 50-54, 100kg class in the squat with the lift of 265 KG and the USPA Alabama State records in the Squat,Bench Press, Deadlift and Total. He was an Oklahoma state high school and state teenage powerlifting champion. Terry also holds the IPL MASTERS WORLD RECORD in the squat in the 100 kg, 55-59 age at 260 kg. Terry also placed 3rd in the Oklahoma State Collegiate Powerlifting Championships as a sophomore in high school. He was a two-time USPF National Collegiate Powerlifting All-American in 1987 and 1988, winning a Bronze medal both years and was named a member of the 1987 USA IPF Junior World Powerlifting Team that competed in Lima, Peru. Terry Placed 5th in the 1987 USPF Senior National Powerlifting Championship at the age of 23. As an Olympic style weightlifter, Terry was coached by USAW Senior International Level Coaches, Stephen Miller and Gayle Hatch, and currently competes at the Masters level and won the bronze medal in the 2011 USA National Masters weightlifting Championship and qualified for the Masters Pan Am and World Championships.
